Cooperative Extension at North Carolina A&T State University and its Strategic Planning Council will connect real people with real issues and real strategies during an upcoming forum in Pittsboro. The 2017 Grassroots Leadership Conference, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, will focus on the theme “Growing from Within.”

This year’s conference will be held at the Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center, 1192 Highway 64 W. Business, Pittsboro. The event is free and open to the public, online registration is required.

The conference will expose a myriad people--civic leaders, community volunteers, families, extension users and groups, and elected officials--to the opportunities Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T offers. It will not only allow local organizations and decision makers to network and collaborate, but also to identify strategies to develop partnerships and action plans that will effectively meet the needs of families, individuals and communities.

A panel discussion begins the conference and will be followed by concurrent breakout sessions on a series of topics that will allow participants to brainstorm solutions around important community issues. Members of the community who are eager to provide solutions to common community problems are encouraged to attend.

The goal of the conference is to inspire and influence the community, but also to engage community leaders who have the authority to execute change. The conference is supported by North Carolina Cooperative Extension. For more information, please contact Dr. Michelle Eley or Alice Pennix at 336-334-7956.
