COUNTY EXTENSION AGENT REPORTS
Storm events early and late in the week brought significant
moisture to the area resulting in some isolated flash flooding with
minimal damage. Most of the county received around 5"-7" of rain
from the two events. Temperatures were considerably cooler with
lows mainly in the 30's and widespread frost and some snow
showers late in the week. Wet field conditions hindered farm
activities for the week.
Stanley Holloway – Yancey County Extension


Small grain plantings have started and pasture renovations are
moving forward.
Charles Mitchell – Franklin County Extension


Minimal rain has allowed corn harvest to be completed as well as
soybean harvest to continue. Farmers are preparing land for as
well as planting wheat. Cabbage harvest has begun and the crop
looks excellent. Al Wood Pasquotank County Extension


The 2 inch rain helped for wheat planting not much else corn
harvest is finishing up soybean harvest is going good. Flue cured
tobacco is done.

Soybean harvest continues. Little to no wheat planted.
Daniel Simpson - Pamlico County Extension


Rainfall was about 3"+ across Jackson and Swain counties,
which is above normal for climate period. Frost and Freeze over
period. Growing season is now over year.
Robert Hawk - Swain County Extension


Cotton and soybean harvest continue but scattered rainfall 1-2
inches hinders some areas.

Tornadic activity greatly diminished crop conditions.
