The U.S. Apple Association, the School Nutrition Association and the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture are teaming up for a new initiative called Apples4Ed. Starting this week, schools across the country will compete for a $10,000 grant to bring a healthy snacking program to their campus—and we encourage you to nominate a school in your community! Together, USApple, SNA and NASDA are on a mission to get people talking about snacking in school.
What types of projects will be funded? All kinds. Give us your best idea! How about harvesting a school garden on campus? Or building a snack pantry to keep students fueled and energized through the day? What about a new cooking and fitness competition to promote healthy lifestyles? You tell us! We just ask that the initiative fall into one of three categories: hands-on-learning, event or food service.
Students, food service directors, PE teachers – anyone connected to the school – are encouraged to submit their healthy snacking idea by completing the short online form found on the www.apples4ed.com site before November 30, 2017.
