Rural America has its strengths and weaknesses. Both will be showcased during National Rural Health Day on Nov. 16. The nationwide campaign, “Celebrate the Power of Rural,” will highlight unique healthcare needs that rural citizens face and showcase the efforts of rural healthcare providers, state offices of rural health, 4-H and other rural stakeholders. Leading up to the event, the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health will be releasing a list of local “stars” — selfless, community-minded adults and youths with the “can do” spirit that prevails in rural America, says spokesperson Michelle Rathman.
