Bladen facility shows solar’s rising influence

Duke Energy expects to get about a third of its new energy from solar power, a company official said Monday. The other two-thirds of Duke Energy’s new energy likely will come from natural gas, according to company spokesman Randy Wheeless.
Natural gas plants complement solar farms, which don’t provide continuous levels of power, Wheeless said.
