COUNTY EXTENSION AGENT REPORTS
Weather conditions for the week were mostly dry and cool with low temperatures primarily in the lower 30's - upper 20's. A small amount of precipitation fell late in the week as light rain in the lower elevations and light snow along the mountain peaks. Most of the county received between .2"-.4" of precipitation. Christmas tree harvest is now in full swing and grain corn harvest is nearly complete. Pastures are beginning to decline and some livestock producers have begun feeding supplemental hay.
Stanley Holloway – Yancey County Extension

Conditions continue to be dry but there is enough moisture from recent rain events to get small grains (for harvest and cover crop) to germinate. Soybean yields are all over the place, from not very good to very good.
Don Nicholson – Agronomist Region 7

Soybean harvest is finishing up, wheat is still being planted, and some farmers are still reseeding pastures.
Stephen Bishop – Cleveland SWCD

Soybean harvest and wheat planting is progressing as weather permits. Occasional rains and cloudy weather is delaying both. Cabbage harvest continues. Farmers are also soil sampling as well. Al Wood - Pasquotank County Extension

Routines maintenance, soil sampling and planting of cover crops are primary farm efforts. High seed moisture and green stems continue to slow soybean harvest.
Mike Carroll - Craven County Extension

Soybean harvest continues. Some wheat has been planted.
Daniel Simpson - Pamlico County Extension

Cool season pastures are doing well with seasonable temperatures. Rainfall was .50" for the period which is below normal. Hard Freeze on November 20th. Soil conditions are considered "Average Wet" for both "Topsoil" and "Subsoil.
Robert Hawk - Swain County Extension

Soybean and cotton harvest continue to progress. Yields are reported as excellent. Fall strawberry production is going well for a few growers due to warm October weather.
Georgia Love – Agronomist Region 5

Harvest of soybeans and cotton continues with above average yields reported. Some areas hit with heavy stink bug injury. Wheat acres are down this year but what has been planted looks good.
Mac Malloy - Robeson County Extension
