Beginning Farmer Workshop Feb. 7 Roxboro

Person County Cooperative Extension along with Granville County Cooperative Extension will be hosting a Beginning Farmer Workshop on February 7, 2018. The event will be held at the Person County Office Building Auditorium, located at 304 S. Morgan St. in Roxboro, NC. Registration will begin at 9 am with the program starting at 9:30 am and lasting until 4 pm. This will be a full day of education for anyone with little or no experience in agriculture, who is interested in starting a farming operation.

Topics will include basic needs for crops and livestock, terminology of farming, economics of farming, equipment, risks and more. This will be a fast paced program that hits the highlights of several areas related to farming and agriculture. The registration fee covers speakers, materials and lunch. Registration cost is $25 per person or $40 for two people from the same farm. Preregistration deadline is January 31, 2018. After that, the registration fee goes up to $35 for a single person and $50 for two from the same farm.
