Regristration open for annual NCDA&CS Food Business Conference on Feb. 14

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will host its annual Food Business Conference in Durham on Feb. 14. The conference, designed for established food entrepreneurs and food manufacturers looking to expand their market research capabilities, will feature presentations on identifying new markets through census data and Google analytics.

“Food businesses are a significant part of the state’s $84 billion agriculture industry, and has tremendous growth potential,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “The Food Business Conference is perfect for established food companies looking to grow their businesses and expand into new markets.”

The conference will be held at the N.C. Biotechnology Center in Durham from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Presentations include “Using U.S. Census Data to Discover Your Market Potential,” by Kelly Karres, a data dissemination specialist with the U.S. Census Bureau; “Using Census Data to Estimate Market Share and Revenue,” by NCDA&CS agribusiness developer Annette Dunlap; and “Using Google Analytics to Fine Tune Your Target Market,” by Jessica Davis, a digital strategist with Level360, LLC. The event includes lunch, an overview of marketing programs offered by the department and networking opportunities.

The cost is $55 per person, or $45 for early registration before Jan. 5. A discounted registration fee is available for companies who want to bring a second attendee.
