Preservation group, landowners agree to protect 476 acres

A North Carolina preservation group is joining with a family to protect 476 acres (1,926,000 square meters) on a mountain summit. The Asheville Citizen-Times reports the Lyda family of Henderson County and Conserving Carolina have settled on a deal that will allow cattle to continue grazing on the land while it remains open for hikers. The Lydas will continue to live on the land, which has been in the family for generations.
