It's a big week for trade talks in Washington as well as in Buenos Aires. Negotiators from the U.S., Canada and Mexico are meeting in Washington through Friday. The meetings, which will not be attended by leading trade ministers, will largely focus on technical issues and attempt to square away chapters on less controversial topics prior to the all-important next full round, set for Montreal, Canada, next month. Negotiators working on agriculture are not expected to hold face-to-face meetings this week.

"You get the impression that this president has taken a tough negotiating position and he's going to stick with it," Sen. Chuck Grassley told Pro Trade's Adam Behsudi.
