Democrats file lawsuit to revive North Carolina's judicial primaries

The N.C. Democratic Party has filed a lawsuit to restore primary elections for statewide and local judgeships next spring.
The state party apparatus in Raleigh, its Guilford County affiliate and other urban Democratic groups are asking the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina to overturn a plan by the Republican-led General Assembly to skip judicial primaries in 2018 and go straight to the November general election.
