A week after a fire caused the shutdown of the House of Raeford poultry further-processing facility in Mocksville, N.C., the company is still working with investigators to determine the cause of the blaze, a company spokesperson said in a statement.
The spokesperson told Meatingplace that most of the damage appears to be confined to one area of the plant, but a complete assessment is not yet available. About 150 employees work at the Mocksville facility.

“Following receipt of official investigative reports, House of Raeford will initiate the cleanup process, and will repair any damages as soon as possible. The company does not know when the plant will reopen, but is working diligently to get answers,” the spokesperson said.

No one was injured in the early-morning blaze and chemical leak on Dec. 14. Employees who were on site at the time told local media that they heard an explosion shortly before discovering the roof was on fire.
