Gildan Activewear plans to close Mass. dyeing plant, cut 90 jobs; no N.C. plants affected

Gildan Activewear Inc. confirmed Thursday that it is closing a former Comfort Colors dyeing facility in Massachusetts by Feb. 28 as part of shifting production to its Central American operations. “The closure of the facility in (New Bedford) basically consolidated all our garment dyeing operations into one single location in the manufacturing hub where we manufacture the actual garments,” spokesman Garry Bell said.
