Dairy, cotton could get farm bill fix early

The disaster assistance bill looks to set the stage for the next farm bill, offering a higher baseline for funding and likely taking care of two contentious issues related to dairy and cotton, according to Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan. Speaking at a workshop at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 2018 Annual Convention & IDEAg Trade Show, Moran said passing a disaster assistance bill for agriculture will set the stage for the next farm bill.
