A Republican challenger filed Tuesday for the 1st Congressional District seat. Durham businessman Roger Allison seeks to challenge incumbent U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield, a Wilson Democrat, who has held the seat since 2004.
"If you look since 2004, since G.K. Butterfield has been in office, you just have to ask if you are better or worse and I can't say any person I ask that says they are better," said Allison, who is a first-time political candidate.
