House Ag tells budget leaders to back off farm, nutrition programs

The House Agriculture Committee on Tuesday adopted its annual budget views and estimates letter to budget leaders, who intend to draft a fiscal 2019 resolution setting spending limits. The letter again requests that the Budget Committee not direct any additional cuts to farm and nutrition programs, noting that the 2014 Farm bill is already estimated to spend about $100 billion less than expected over a decade - largely as a result of declining SNAP enrollment.
