After final OK, Duke Energy Progress rates go up next week

N.C. regulators gave final approval of a Duke Energy Progress’ 4.7% rate increase Thursday and ordered that the rates become effective next week. The increase will raise about $194 million in additional annual revenue for the Raleigh-based utility. The commission order says Duke will raise about $3.34 billion a year from customer charges under the new rates. That is up from $3.15 billion a year under current rates.
