FDA moving forward on effort to reduce nicotine levels in cigarettes

The commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration said Thursday that he is pushing ahead with the agency’s effort to reduce nicotine levels in traditional cigarettes. Scott Gottlieb said the FDA has issued an advance notice of proposed rulemaking “to explore a product standard to lower nicotine in cigarettes to minimally or non-addictive levels.”
