It’s a crop-crossing threat that can quickly take over a field if control measures are late. The silverleaf whitefly caused cotton farmers more problems over a wider area in 2017 than in typical years. Dr. Phillip Roberts is the cotton entomologist for University of Georgia Extension and located in Tifton, Ga., the heart of the state’s coastal plain.
