In the heat of Greenhouse 1 at Gray’s Creek High School on Saturday morning, Sheree Jones dug her fingers into a heap of potting soil and chose what she’d add to her container garden from the rows of gerber daisies, bleeding hearts, geraniums and so many other pretty perennials. Jones was one of about a hundred people who turned up for the school’s first-ever Agricultural Symposium, hosted by the Bears’ chapter of Future Farmers of America.
