The second half of March through the first week in April is normally the ideal time for burndown applications in no-till cotton. Weeds are typically smaller and less mature (easier to kill) during this period compared to later in the spring, and application during this period gives adequate time to meet the waiting restrictions for most of the herbicides we commonly use. So far this March, the weatherman has not been helpful. Rainfall has varied across our region, but on average it is close to normal (Table 1). For more of this story, click here.
