U.S. immigration officials executed a criminal search warrant at the Southeastern Provision meatpacking plant in Grainger County, Tenn., leading to the arrest of 97 individuals who are subject to removal from the United States, a public affairs officer for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told Meatingplace on Friday.

ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations, the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation Division, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol conducted the search on Thursday, ICE spokeswoman Tamara Spicer said in an emailed statement.
Ten people were arrested on federal criminal charges, one was arrested on state charges, and 86 were arrested on administrative charges, Spicer said. Of the 86 administrative arrests, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations placed 54 in detention, and 32 were released from custody, she said.
