Farmers groups flag need for mental health treatment

TCiting a high suicide rate among farmers, the National Farmers Union and a coalition of 36 farm, rural and health advocacy groups are urging Congress in a letter sent this morning to make mental health treatment more accessible to farmers through the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network. The program, created in the 2008 farm bill, provides grants to services and nonprofits that offer stress assistance programs to those working in agriculture.
