Unifi Inc. is expanding its reach in the dyed yarn business by acquiring industry assets from Triad competitor National Spinning Co. Inc. The Greensboro yarn manufacturer said Thursday it projects closing the acquisition in May. As part of the transaction, Unifi Manufacturing Inc. plans to shift production from National Spinning’s Burlington plant to its in-house dyeing facility in Reidsville, where it also has a plastic bottle-processing plant with more than 250 employees.
