Pine stumpage prices up in the 1st quarter of 2018

While the U.S. housing market, the primary driver of the wood product industry, is trending downward in early 2018, North Carolina pine stumpage prices across the board were up in the first quarter of 2018. TimberMart-South reported that the statewide pine saw timber prices are reported to be up by 4% from the last quarter. The largest increase (about 10%) was in Pine Chip-N-Saw. Similarly, pine pulpwood prices were up 6% from the fourth quarter of 2017.
