On an early Saturday morning, 16 middle schoolers rush around the gardens surrounding the Yurt, a round tent-like structure at NC State University’s JC Raulston Arboretum. They are harvesting watermelon, looking for ripe eggplants and propping up okra tall enough to topple over.Anticipation fills the air — these kids want to know the name of every weed they pull up and every bug they see.
