After 43 years of teaching and soybean extension work, Dr. Jim Dunphy officially retired from NC State at the end of April. Dunphy was a fixture in both the classroom and soybeans fields across the state, serving as Crop Science Soybean Extension Specialist at State since 1975, and promoted to professor in 1986. Dr. Dunphy’s primary responsibility was in training field faculty, and providing support for their soybean educational efforts. He also advised Field Crop Technology majors, and taught Soybean Production and Oilseed Crop Production.
