BACKGROUND INFORMATION: North Carolina Sentinel Landscapes is a partnership focused on collaboration and coordination between farmers, foresters, conservationists and military installations. The partnership works to benefit and protect North Carolina’s agriculture and defense sectors.
The North Carolina Sentinel Landscape Committee works to develop and implement programs and strategies that protect working lands near testing and training areas for major military installations or other areas of strategic benefit to national defense. The committee also works to address restrictions that inhibit military testing and training and preempt incompatible development near areas where training occurs.
