Danielle Beck is the Director of Government Affairs for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association,  She discusses language in the House 2019 Agriculture Appropriations billthat would give USDA jurisdiction over lab-grown “meat” products.
But why is it critically important for USDA and its Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) to have jurisdiction over these products as opposed to the FDA?  USDA guarantee a level playing field based on science with solid mechanisms for consumer safety.
