Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross ended two days of meetings in Beijing without issuing a statement as of Sunday night.
But China had some strong warnings for the the United States, after the White House said last week that it was ready to move forward on tariffs on $50 billion worth of goods it imports from China.

Hold up: "All economic and trade outcomes of the talks will not take effect if the U.S. side imposes any trade sanctions including raising tariffs," the government said in a statement posted by state-run news agency Xinhua. China has said it is willing to increase imports of U.S. farm goods and energy products, but it stressed on Sunday that such an outcome should be based on "meeting each other halfway" rather than engaging in a trade war, Pro Trade's Adam Behsudi writes.

The USA roster: It is unclear how the Trump administration views the outcome of the talks, but aggies were well-represented in Ross' meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He in Beijing. Among those in attendance was U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad, Undersecretary of Agriculture for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Ted McKinney, and U.S. Trade Representative's Chief Agricultural Negotiator Gregg Doud.
