A colder-than-normal winter and plenty of rain this spring are causing farmers challenges but, according to Lenoir County Extension Office’s agricultural agent Steve Killette, it could be a lot worse. “We got a little bit of rain,” he said. “We got about four inches last week.” And that, he said, is keeping farmers out of their fields and has resulted in late plantings. “But I wouldn’t say it’s really bad,” he said.
