North Carolina was 12th overall in a new ranking of the best state economies by WalletHub. According to the study, NC ranked 9th in “economic health,” and 11th in “innovation potential,” all respectable scores. The state placed among the top five in only one of the breakout categories WalletHub listed, placing 4th on the “highest state-government surplus per capita” list.
