More than two dozen lawsuits are on the dockets claiming hog farms in eastern NC constitute a nuisance to their neighbors. The first of those lawsuits was decided in favor of the plaintiffs, resulting in penalties of $50 million, later reduced by state law to 3 million. In an effort to protect farms and farmers from further legal damages, some state lawmakers are sponsoring a Right to Farm bill,
