Regarding “Bill places limits on hog farm neighbors’ lawsuits” (June 16): It was on a steamy, eastern North Carolina afternoon with the sun beating down when we pulled onto Joey Carter’s farm for an impromptu visit. It was my privilege to shake hands with one of the farmers involved in the Smithfield nuisance lawsuits. To personally and intimately feel the burden that these families are bearing. We stood on this pristine, manicured farm and breathed in the injustice that was attacking Joey, a devoted hog farmer of 33 years. For more of this story, click here.
