Source: NC AGRIBUSINESS COUNCIL, 6/21/18
THIS IS IT! The moment we have all been waiting for....the House is scheduled to begin voting on immigration reform today around noon (Thursday 6/21/18) and contrary to what some are saying - AG REFORM IS IN HR 4760.
But now - the Ag voice must be heard - so please take time this morning to Call your state's congressional delegation and tell them you need them to Vote YES for HR 4760 - Securing America's Future Act - (which includes the Ag-negotiated AgAct) - when it comes to the floor of the House

HR 4760 helps Ag because it includes the Ag-negotiated Version of the AgAct which:
1. Moves Ag Guestworker program from US Dept of Labor - to US Dept of Ag. (much friendlier oversight) 2. Eliminates AEWR wage rate - wage will be tied to federal/state minimum wage+ instead 3. Makes changes statutory instead of just regulatory (as we know, regs are too easily changed) 4. Provides adjustment for undocumented workers to legal guestworker status 5. Eliminates many difficult and costly regulatory and statutory burdens 6. Provides relief for H2B program - some who have previously been unable to use old Ag Guestworker program (H2a) will now qualify for the new Ag guestworker program (H2c) which replaces H2a 7. many, many other improvements
Let your state's congressional members know you need them to Vote YES for HR 4760 TODAY when it comes to the floor because Ag needsimmigration reform.
Late Wednesday night in the House Rules Committee, the Goodlatte Bill (HR4760) - Securing America's Future Act was amended to include the negotiated version of the AgAct. Congressman Goodlatte worked very hard and very carefully to ensure farmers across America got what they needed in a reformed program (even if not always what they wanted) while keeping a careful balance of reform that would be palatable to the majority of Americans - e-verify-employment & merit-based Ag worker adjustment to legal guestworker program - all the while staying true to the conservative platform necessary to get enough votes to pass the House.
Congressman Goodlatte has stayed true to his word and fought hard to get the Ag-negotiated version of HR 4760 to the floor of the house - NOW AG NEEDS TO STAND UP AND BE HEARD LOUD AND CLEAR - Get your state's delegation to VOTE YES for HR 4760
This is it....Ag can't afford to squander this chance - make your calls this morning.
