500,000 expected at Equestrian Games; Road plans OK’d

This fall, from Sept. 11-23, as many as 500,000 people are expected to descend on Mill Spring and Polk County for the nearly two-week FEI World Equestrian Games at Tryon International Equestrian Center. According to the WEG website tryon2018.com, “The 2018 WEG has the potential to be the largest sporting event in North Carolina history, with over $400 million dollars of projected economic impact...” What impact could that major influx of people have on local roadways and drivers?
