The parent company of Swiss agrichemical company Syngenta AG, which has its North American headquarters in Greensboro, has signaled it could be merging with China's other state-owned chemical giant. According to reports from the Wall Street Journal and Caixin, a Beijing-based business media company, rumors have circulated for two years that Chinese state-owned chemical companies ChemChina and Sinochem Group would merge because of conditions imposed by the Chinese government in support of ChemChina's $43 billion acquisition of Syngenta last year.
