DRIVING FOR THE COMPANY
1. General Policy for Driving for the Company: All employees who are either required or requested to drive Company vehicles or their own vehicle on Company business are required to do so in a safe, courteous manner and in conformance with all applicable laws. Employees driving for the Company will be required to show proof of current valid North Carolina driver’s license. The employee must also be insurable under the Company’s insurance policy. Any employee who is required to operate a Company vehicle and is uninsurable by the Company’s insurance carrier is not eligible for continued employment.

Employees are required to notify their Supervisor and the President/CEO immediately and no later than 24 hours after all incidents and/or driving citations when driving a Company-owned vehicle, even if not on Company business. This requirement applies regardless of who is driving the vehicle at the time of the incident. Failure to comply may result in the removal of the Company vehicle and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

Accident Procedures: Each Company owned or leased vehicle carries evidence of liability insurance in the glove box that will assist in obtaining all of the required information related to an incident. Employees will be held personally responsible for all costs of the incident if they are found to have been operating the vehicle in a reckless manner due to the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, and/or controlled substances.
