7/24/2018 - Who is Standing With Farmers in DC? Farmers have fought for many years to get a workable guestworker program that addresses their unique labor needs for ag. And this year, we may finally have a chance to see a new and better program (H2c) replace the overly burdenson, over regulated, too expensive, too litigious H2a program - thru passage of the Ag & Legal Workforce Act - HR 6417. So far, Five (5) members of the NC Delegation have signed on to sponsor HR 6417 - BIG SHOUT OUT and HEARTY THANK YOU to Congressmen David Rouzer, Mark Meadows, Walter Jones, Mark Walker, and Richard Hudson!!
Our goal is to have ALL members of the NC Congressional delegation sign on as a sponsor - so as any member signs on as a sponsor, I will be sending out a notice in the Daily AgPost to all NC Agribusiness Council members about Who is Standing with Farmers on this very important issue!
If your member of Congress has not signed on - and you would be willing to answer any questions about why HR 6417 is so important to farmers - please call your representative and explain your personal farm labor situation. Or if you prefer, call me and I'll pass your story along.
And for those who aren't aware, this bill has bi-partisan support - Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee Congressman Colin Peterson has signed on as a sponsor - putting support of the American Farmer First. We just can't thank him enough for this show of true leadership!
