Pender commissioners move to support hog industry

Farmers are not the only casualties in the opening skirmishes of a developing trade war between China and the United States, but they appear to be the front line, with billions of pounds of meat -- pork among the offerings -- now sitting in storage rather than shipping to tables in Asia. But hog farmers in North Carolina have at least gotten some reprieve from another battle they have been fighting closer to home, with the General Assembly’s recent passage of the North Carolina Farm Act of 2018.
