North Carolina July Farm Report

OFF FARM GRAIN STOCKS: Off farm grain stocks reported for Soybeans totaled 7,847,000 as of June 1, 2018. This was up 12% from the 7,037,000 bushels reported during the same quarter last year.

SOWS FARROWING :North Carolina producers intend to farrow 470,000 sows during both the June–August 2018 and the September–November 2018 quarters. 

PIG CROP: The State’s pig crop during the March–May 2018 period totaled 4.697 million head, down slightly from the same period last year. These pigs were produced by 465,000 sows. 

PIGS PER LITTER: The number of pigs saved per litter averaged 10.1, which is up from the 10.0 pigs saved during the same quarter last year. 

HOGS & PIGS: Hogs and pigs on North Carolina farms June 1, 2018 totaled 8.9 million head, unchanged from last quarter and last year.
