Wednesday, North Carolina Sens. Thom Tillis and Richard Burr sent a letter to FEMA Administrator Brock Long to support Gov. Roy Cooper’s request to declare a major disaster declaration as a result of the impacts from rain and flooding that occurred in western North Carolina from May 15 through May 31. The rain event beginning May 15 caused flash flooding and damage across several counties in western North Carolina through May 20.
