The Trump administration's plan to relocate the USDA's Economic Research Service appears to be already proceeding. Mary Bohman, who had been serving as administrator, has been transferred to the department's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, where she will serve as associate administrator for economics, Pro's Maria Curi reported Monday.

Bohman was reassigned last Thursday — the same day that Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced that ERS and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture would be moved outside of Washington and that ERS would be shifted from the department's research, education and economics mission area to the Office of the Secretary, to align it with the Office of the Chief Economist.

Movin' along: ERS and NIFA will be moved from Washington by the end of 2019, according to last week's announcement, and could be co-located. USDA is currently soliciting information on the relocation process. The spokesperson said the department will "soon" issue a Federal Register notice to seek bids for relocation of the two agencies.
