August 16th, 9:00am to 12:30, Expo Building at the NC State Fairgrounds
The NC Agribusiness Council is pleased to help co-sponsor the 14th Annual Commissioner's Food Safety Forum - to discuss the future of food safety with the nation's food supply. This meeting is intended for all aspects of the Agribusiness "food chain" so plan to join farmers, safety experts, industry leaders, regulators, public health officials, emergency management and academia to learn about the state's On-Farm Readiness Review Program.
The On-Farm Readiness Review Program will provide fresh fruit and vegetable farmers with resources and information to help them understand the requirements of the Produce Safety Rule, determine if their farm is exempt, assess existing produce safety practices and prepare for inspections.
The forum will feature a panel discussion with national and local groups, including United Fresh, NW Horticulture Council and NC Farm Bureau to provide insight into the real-world application of the On-Farm Readiness Review Program. Farmers interested in the voluntary review program will also be able to sign up for an On-Farm Readiness Review during the event.
