N.C. Wine and Grape Month kick-off event to be held Tuesday in Raleigh

WHAT/WHO: Wineries from across the state will usher in N.C. Wine and Grape Month with a kick-off event featuring wine tastings and an update on the state of the industry. The event is geared to the restaurant industry and is not open to the public, but media are welcome to attend.
Participating wineries are:
• Banner Elk Winery, Banner Elk
• Childress Vineyards, Lexington
• Cypress Bend Vineyards, Wagram
• Jones von Drehle Vineyards and Winery, Thurmond
• Junius Lindsay Vineyards, Lexington
• Laurel Gray Vineyards, Hamptonville
• RayLen Vineyards, Mocksville
• Sanctuary Vineyards, Jarvisburg

MORE INFO: N.C. Wine and Grape Month is celebrated each September at the peak of the local grape harvest. The state is home to 525 commercial grape growers and nearly 200 wineries. North Carolina’s wine and grape industry contributes $1.97 billion to the state’s economy and employs more than 10,000 people.
