The U.S. trade deficit swelled 9.5 percent in July to more than $50 billion, according to the Commerce Department. It's the largest month-to-month increase since Trump took office last year. Despite the president's efforts, the monthly U.S. trade deficits with China ($36.8 billion) and Europe ($17.6 billion) both hit record highs in July.
