USDA aims to debut ‘bioengineered’ GMO food labels by December 1

The USDA by Dec. 1 is aiming to publish a final rule on labeling food containing genetically engineered ingredients, Greg Ibach, undersecretary for marketing and regulatory programs, said [September 12th]. The department wants to start enforcing the rule [on Jan. 1, 2020] at the same time as FDA’s update to the Nutrition Facts panel takes effect so food manufacturers only have to change labels once ….
