Source: POLITICO'S MORNING AGRICULTURE, 9/26/18
A bipartisan group of 34 House and Senate lawmakers is urging the farm bill negotiators to preserve provisions in the Senate version that would limit farms to one manager who can qualify as "actively engaged" in the business, and therefore eligible for $125,000 a year in commodity subsidies. In a letter sent this morning — spearheaded by Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), along with House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.) — the lawmakers also advocate for a provision that would cap the income eligibility threshold at $700,000 a year in gross income.
