September came and went without a new farm bill. While the "Big Four" chairmen and ranking members of the agricultural committees have been meeting and negotiating differences in House and Senate farm bill legislation for several weeks, they were not able to reach a compromise by the end of September. As a result, there is not yet a new 2018 Farm Bill to replace the 2014 Farm Bill, which expired on Sept. 30.
