Walmart food safety VP Frank Yiannas headed to FDA

Frank Yiannas, the vice president of food safety for Walmart and an outspoken proponent of blockchain, is leaving retail to take a post at the Food and Drug Administration. Yiannas announced the move on his Twitter page with the comment, “New title, same mission — ensuring consumers have access to safe, affordable and sustainable food.” At the FDA, Yiannas will succeed Stephen Ostroff, the FDA deputy commissioner for foods and veterinary medicine, who is retiring in a few months, according to Politico. The new title for Yiannas will be deputy commissioner for food policy and response.
